Set-based data manipulation

As you will see in this section, you can also manipulate a set of data by sending only one command to the database. This way of manipulating data improves performance a lot when trying to manipulate large sets of records. There are, however, a couple of things to consider before using set-based data manipulation.

All of the operators discussed in the following sections will be converted back to their record-based counterparts' runtime if any of the following is true:

  • A record-based method such as insert(), update(), delete(), or aosValidate() has been overridden
  • An AX database logging is set up to log when records based operations occur or if the standard AX Alerts are set up to alert when inserts, updates, or deletes ...
