7. Going Cross-Platform

An app that stands alone on iPhone or iPad can be an eminently useful thing. But an app with multiple incarnations on a combination of iPhone, iPad, other mobile platforms, desktop platforms, and the web can be exponentially more valuable. It’s getting rare to find an app that exists only on one platform; almost anything worth building on iPhone or iPad is worth building on the other, too, at the very least.
