6. Protecting the Privacy of User Data

This chapter is unlike any other in this book, and in some ways, it’s the most important chapter of all. iCloud lets people share data across all their devices. The data can also be synchronized with CalDAV and Exchange servers. This is all remarkably convenient for users because their data is wherever they want it to be.

It also brings up a host of privacy and security issues. This chapter provides an overview of the issues and the steps that you can take to implement the privacy that users expect for their data—privacy that in some cases is even required by law.
