In their excellent investigation on project leadership, Turner and Müller (2006) cover the whole spectrum of leadership as it relates to project success. Towards the end of their review of previous studies they conclude that “we have seen [such] a substantial amount of evidence that it would be extraordinary if the leadership styles of the project manager did not influence project success” (p.18).

In our investigation, we do not cover the whole spectrum of project-related leadership. Instead, we focus on leadership of the project team.
