CoreOS can be installed on a variety of platforms such as bare metal servers, cloud provider's virtual machines, physical servers, and so on. This chapter describes in detail how to bring up your first CoreOS environment focusing on deploying CoreOS on a Virtual Machine. When deploying in a virtualization environment, tools such as Vagrant come in very handy in managing CoreOS virtual machines.
