Setting Up the Scene

There is not a lot to do to set up the scene for compositing. You just need to add a basic material to the floor. In Blender Render, you had to set the floor to receive only shadows, but as that can’t be done in Cycles, you will set the scene up using Render Layers.

Make sure that, on the Render tab of the Properties Editor, under Film, you enable the Transarent option to avoid rendering the background. Also, if you haven’t increased the Render Samples previously, you can do this now on the Render tab of the Properties Editor to improve the render quality.
