Naming Your Scene’s Objects

After you understand what datablocks are and how to rename objects, name the objects in your scene accordingly (for example, the plane should be called “Floor”). Sometimes, you’ll have to select a datablock’s name from a list, so naming datablocks intuitively will help you find the one you’re looking for.

Tip

When you have lots of objects in a scene, it can be difficult to select a specific one, as others may be in the way. If you right click over the objects in the 3D View several times, the selection will jump between the objects under the cursor, and if you press Alt + RMB, Blender will display a list of objects under the cursor, so you can select the one you need.
