MEL and Python scripting

MEL stands for Maya Embedded Language. In Maya software, every time you use a tool or open a window, you are using MEL. MEL can be used to execute simple commands, write expressions, or build scripts that will extend Maya software's existing functionality. The Script Editor displays commands and feedback generated by scripts and tools. Simple MEL commands can be typed in the Command Line, while more complex MEL scripts can be typed in the Script Editor.
