Summary

In this chapter we instituted a classic shambler AI in the form of our Slime enemy. We created contact damage scripts, prepared a quick and dirty version of player death, and incorporated player immunity to improve the player experience. A system for moving platforms between two points was added and then repurposed so that we could have a flying type of enemy for variety.

We wrote a Component that would allow us to activate inactive enemies, and finally, we discussed a few thoughts on the subject of platformer challenges.

In Chapter 10, “Creating the Menus and Interface Elements,” we’ll create the basic menus for getting into and out of our game, as well as add the interface elements that make up the game’s GUI.
