2D versus 3D Animation

Another important discussion is about animating with a 2D approach versus a 3D one. While most of the rules and principles work in either case, it is good to discuss a few differences.

2D animation means using only two-dimensional depth. A scene is drawn as frames, one after another, on paper or in 2D software using only two axes (horizontal and vertical). In order to create the animation, you must draw each frame of the sequence, constantly paying attention to the previous and following frames. After a series of these are done, they can be recorded and played back in order to see the overall action. Most of our animation will be done with this method as we are dealing with 2D pixel art.
