Summary

In this chapter we got our first look at setting our Project to work in 2D instead of Unity’s default 3D mode. We looked at how we could set this after the Project had been created and how we can bounce back and forth from 2D to 3D in the Scene View.

We started getting into 2D sprites and sprite sheets. We set our Player sprite sheet to Multiple so Unity understands that it contains multiple resources. We then opened the Sprite Editor and learned to slice our sprites as well as set the pivot position for each sprite in the atlas.

Last, we looked at creating custom packed sprites. This is a Unity Pro feature, so we also looked at a few ways of using third-party applications to build our own sprite sheets.
