Finally, scammers used physical letters to defraud US citizens. This is still the legitimate way that the IRS contacts someone when they wish to initiate a correspondence. These letters were used to also request users to give out their personal information and at times banking information. However, there were fewer reports of these types of scams since they involved too much work. But still, some of them were still successful.
