Surprise

Surprise is closely linked to fear, just as disgust is linked to contempt. Surprise is physically displayed with the eyes wide opened and the lower jaw unhinged. Surprise, unlike the aforementioned expressions, can either be good or bad. People get surprised by different things, such as unexpected questions and unexpected outcomes. Good surprises lead to positive and jovial responses. Bad surprises, on the other hand, lead to negative responses. Social engineers tend to work with good surprises since these quickly put targets at ease and also lead to the increased acceptability of what the social engineer is saying. Therefore, they always have things to trigger good surprises, such as gifts or jokes.
