Contempt

Contempt is closely related to anger and the two can easily be confused. In his first list of expressions, Dr. Ekman only had six since he had sidelined contempt in the view that it was the same as disgust. He later revisited the list and added contempt after research led to the discovery that the two expressions were totally different. Contempt is different in that it is only expressed towards people and their actions. Physically, contempt is characterized by the wrinkling of the nose and a one-sided lip-raise. The difference between this and disgust is that a disgusted person will raise the whole lip.
