Part 2. Building an inventory tool

Now you’re ready to start constructing a practical, real-world tool. We’re going to create an inventory tool called Get-SystemInfo, and over the next few chapters we’ll continue to build on it. Each chapter will address a new aspect of the tool, from its basic functionality through error handling, debugging, and packaging the tool for distribution.

Each chapter will also provide you with a series of hands-on labs. Completing all of them may take more than the hour that you’ve allotted for your lunchtime reading, but we encourage you to take the extra time, if you can, to complete each of the labs.
