Gabby gives us coordinates for our destination, but she doesn’t drive the car. We do. As we adopt goals, the Business Scorecard, and the other elements of the leadership GPS process, we still have to rely on our “drivers”—our team members—to get the work done. We need them engaged.

We began the engagement process when we set our interpersonal and leadership skills parameters (Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7). We built on it by applying our accountability system (Chapters 8 and 9). Now we can improve associate engagement by applying leadership GPS’s communication system.
