Capitalizing on Connections

Rebecca’s key learning from this experience is the idea of capitalizing on connections. She learned that rather than just show up at events, you have to stand out and look for ways to help others; there’s no point in being involved if you’re not making a difference. And everyone at WBENC knows Rebecca and the difference she has made. For over four years, she served as the president of WBENC’s National Women’s Forum. As a result of her leadership role, Rebecca was able not only to support the efforts of other women but also to develop strong personal relationships with key decision makers of major corporations—again capitalizing on opportunity.
