Unlike Lester, Chris Shea enjoyed a very comfortable childhood. The youngest of four children, she grew up in a middle-class neighborhood in suburban St. Louis, Missouri. When she was twelve, her father’s job took the family to Toronto, and Chris found herself in a new country, with new classmates at a new school. Although she spoke the same language, Chris’s strong Midwestern accent set her apart from her fellow students, who ridiculed the way she spoke.
