Communication: The Cauldron of Leadership

The sole measure of real leadership is how others are affected by the leader’s character, vision, and action. Central to all of these is communication, specifically leadership communication, the skill that is most essential for leaders to be effective. What I’ve suggested in these pages is that the practice of authentic leadership communication has been slowly waning, even as the need for it is becoming greater. Particularly in the public and business arenas, we find more and more posturing fueled by selfish objectives—whether money, power, or both.
