THE SECOND WAVE OF THE PERFECT STORM IS diversity. It’s not that diversity is new as much as that the underlying diversity of the world has been brought out into the open through technology. When the first commercial jetliner came into service in 1957, it changed the world. People could move quickly between markets, finding new customers, suppliers, and workers. The ability to conduct business globally grew slowly at first, because while aviation technology could take people places, computer technology had not yet made it possible to coordinate, consolidate, and integrate businesses on a global scale.
