Peter Koestenbaum, in his excellent book Leadership, notes, “Remember, it is not that we have so much to do that we cannot find time to think and act as leaders; on the contrary, it is because we do not think and act as leaders that we have so much to do.” Balancing priorities of conflicting demands requires leaders to be clear about the issues and clear about how they balance their attention and their time. It requires them to “think and act as leaders.”
