GLOSSARY

Active listening: the skill of listening attentively to the speaker, of giving them your undivided attention, repeating their words and summarising what they say.

Aggressive behaviour: behaviour of someone that is based on the premise that they are more important than the person that they are interacting with, and which demonstrates a lack of respect towards them through their words, tone and body language.

Assertive behaviour: behaviour of someone who communicates their views, feelings and opinions in a confident and respectful manner, and who acts in a way which demonstrates that they consider themselves and the other person as equals.
