Level 2: Participant Learning
This evaluation level gathers data on whether the participants actually learned the core competencies that the program sought to teach. Level 2 goes beyond the reaction sheet by exploring what the participant actually learned from the training program. For example: Did the participants in a training program on performance coaching actually learn the core skills, knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that we sought to develop?
Some approaches for Level 2 evaluation include
quizzes that measure the learning of concepts and terms
case applications that require the demonstration of knowledge or skill and allow the trainer to know that the participants are learning
