Why I Wrote This Book

I’ve taught several thousand managers and leaders since the release of my 2002 book Working Across Boundaries, a book that takes a broad look at collaboration’s challenges and potential. I’ve learned an enormous amount from these students. Conversations with them have convinced me that the art and craft of collaboration is learnable, and feedback from them has guided me in making some revisions in my collaborative framework. I’ve also seen a steady decline in the number who ask, “Why should we collaborate?” and an increasing hunger for an answer to the “How do we collaborate?” question.
