Learn how to do things right.

 

Your father wanted you to learn how to do things right. He probably said something like, “It is easier to do something right the first time than to do it over later on. Write an essay, mow the lawn, run the dishwasher, clean the fish tank—whatever the situation or activity, the real lesson he was teaching you was to set performance standards for yourself, and try to meet them every time.

There are also standards at work that must be followed precisely. Doing the job right is important in any position, and many times there is little or no margin for error. Employers have every right to expect a job to be performed correctly; after all, that is what they are paying you for. Mistakes cost organizations ...
