Make your own way in the world.
Every dad teaches his children not to expect to be handed anything on a silver platter. You have to make your own way in the world. Dads are famous for saying things like, “You can’t expect to have success handed to you,” or “If you wait for someone to cut you a break, you’ll be waiting a long time. You’ve got to make your own breaks in life.” And, of course, Dad was right. However, in reality, the key advantages we do get in life come from our fathers: the advice, support, guidance, and everything else we needed to grow into the adults we are today.
