Don’t hang around with a bad crowd.

Your mom didn’t want you hanging around with a bad crowd, did she? She told you that the people you associate with are a reflection of yourself. She probably discouraged you from becoming friends with a boy or girl who came from a family with a bad reputation in the community. Our mothers protected us from kids who might become negative influences, thus negating all of the good lessons learned at home.

There might not be any “bad” kids at work, but there are certainly employees who are better for your career than others. Seek out mentoring relationships with successful employees in your organization, and try to get to know those who can help you attain your career goals. You might not be concerned ...
