Don’t embarrass the family.

Moms take a great deal of pride in their families. It is their life’s work—their crowning achievement, if you will. They put their heart and soul into raising their children, and they seem to be willing to sacrifice whatever they want for themselves for the sake of the family. Mothers are especially sensitive when it comes to family pride. “Don’t ever do anything that will embarrass the family!” Children are expected to behave like good little boys and girls in public, and not do anything that would make their parents ashamed of them. Despite Mom’s expectations and warnings, this particular goal was not entirely achieved.
