Respect your elders.
Honoring your parents and respecting your elders are important lessons we learn in childhood. Mom tried to instill in us a respect for people who were older because she believed that each person could teach us a thing or two that we needed to learn.
This, too, is a lesson that can be applied in your professional life. Respect and listen to those who have more experience than you, regardless of where they are in the organization. Such individuals are invaluable sources of knowledge, expertise, and wisdom about life and about work.
