Lesson # 10

Don’t fight.

If you had brothers or sisters when you were growing up, it is very likely that you fought with one another. This is a natural part of childhood. In many ways, these childhood skirmishes taught us how to deal with conflict, which is part of life, but fighting wasn’t usually tolerated, at least not in front of Mom. Neither was tattling; in fact, it was likely to get both sides in trouble! All Mom really wanted at home was to hear the sounds of peace and harmony.

Getting along with others is important in any situation. Arguing with siblings or co-workers doesn’t make for a harmonious environment, and getting into disagreements doesn’t help us be more successful at work. In fact, it’s likely to have the opposite effect. ...
