INTRODUCTION

I was elected for a second term as principal chief, and the state of the nation speech came six weeks after the inauguration, expanding on the basic principles and themes of my inauguration speech. The council sued me over my challenge to their “slush fund.” The idea of making decisions based on principles was becoming stronger within my administration, but the council still was driven by political decisions of self-ingratiation. One example was the building of a new gymnasium at Sequoyah School. The school had tremendous success in basketball, and the team had to go to other schools in the area because the gym was so small and the fans were so many.
