360 degree feedback A management tool that provides individuals with reactions, opinions, and criticisms about their performance from supervisors, peers or co-workers, subordinates, and customers.

Adaptive work A communication and exchange process that clarifies the distance within a group between expectations and hopes, on the one hand, and the realities the group faces on the other.

Attribution The process of attributing causality to events; who gets the credit or who gets the blame.

Authentic leader A type of leader who is deeply self-aware and of high moral character and who is perceived by others as being aware of their own and others' values/moral perspectives, knowledge, and strengths.

Autocratic leader A “bossy” leader; a leader who does not delegate or consult and retains the authority for himself or herself.

Behavior The way in which a person acts in response to a particular situation or stimulus; a way of conducting oneself.

Behavior contagion The spread of a behavior pattern, attitude, or emotion from person to person or group to group through suggestion, propaganda, rumor, or imitation; a harmful, corrupting influence.

Big Five personality inventory The “Big Five” factors (or Five Factor Model) of personality are five broad domains or dimensions of personality used to describe human personality. The five factors are extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, emotional stability (or neuroticism), and agreeableness.
