Conclusion

Preparation is just part of what makes a leadership development program effective. Ideally, an entire development system—that is, an overall framework through which activities are planned, developed, supported, championed, and measured—is necessary for truly productive learning. The ideas I have discussed here, however, can begin to pave the way toward such a system.
