Preparing the Work Environment

When individuals attend leadership development programs, they often learn things about themselves that they are eager to change. This is a positive outcome; it is what is supposed to happen. Many people, however, do not anticipate how challenging it is to change long-practiced behaviors. Significant concentration and effort are required for acting differently at work. Thus, before attending a program, the participant should look carefully at the work environment to see how well it can accommodate the hard work of personal development.
