The notion that some people are more receptive to developmental feedback than others is well known. For example, our investigation shows that an individual's level of self-awareness is predictive of receptivity to feedback. Those individuals with accurate self-views—that is those who are capable of making an honest assessment of their strengths and weaknesses—are also more likely to listen to feedback. This may be part of the reason their level of self-awareness is high to start with; they have a tendency to be more receptive to feedback.
