Systemic Leadership Development

In recent years, we at CCL have noted an important advance in how leadership development is understood within organizations. It is now widely held that leadership development cannot be accomplished through a single event (such as a formal program) or activity (such as a challenging assignment). Rather, it requires a process, one that takes place over time and involves a variety of integrated activities. Furthermore, because this integrated leadership development process is always embedded in an organizational system, it is now also understood that this system will have an impact on the effectiveness of leadership development in the organization.
