Family Readiness

  • Visit the family and talk through the pros and cons of the assignment: At what life stage is the family? Are its members part of a close-knit, extended family? What are the spouse's previous life experiences and temperament?
  • Arrange meetings between the family and families repatriated from the potential expatriate's assignment location to discuss how home and host cultures are similar and different, particularly in terms of spousal roles, career opportunities for spouses, transportation, and schooling and child care.
