We have seen that feelings about personal success and professional success often clash. In a 1995 article in Working Woman magazine, Barbara Ehrenreich argues that meaningful work and a balanced life are genuine, deep-seated human needs that can be ignored or repressed for a while but will assert themselves eventually.
