PERFORMANCE ENHANCERS

Nine of the forty practices for increasing perceptions of fairness were found to be statistically related to heightened performance. However, in terms of practical significance, only five practices had a noteworthy relationship to improved performance:

• Supervisors delegate significant responsibility and authority to women subordinates.

• Supervisors maintain open, two-way communication with women subordinates.

• Supervisors give women subordinates credit for their ideas rather than presenting those ideas as the supervisors' own.

• Women are given the same opportunity as men to get a job or promotion.

• Top management moves capable women into high-level positions that carry significant responsibility.
