FIVE TRUTHS

Despite the demise of the innovation centers, they did sometimes produce successful results and clearly demonstrated five important truths about innovation and the innovation process:

1. People in an organization often have novel and unique ideas that fall outside the realm of their normal responsibilities.

2. Innovation programs can uncover new business opportunities that would not otherwise be discovered through normal business and marketing efforts.

3. An independent funding mechanism, no matter of what type, can stimulate innovative activities.

4. Successful, knowledgeable people can learn new techniques that improve their innovation capabilities.
