RIDING SHOTGUN
On my first visit to Australia I jumped in the back seat of an airport taxi. I told the cabby where I wanted to go but he just sat there, looking at me in the rearview mirror. Finally he said, “Well, are you going to come ride up front or just sit in back like an American?” I was a little puzzled (not to mention jet-lagged) but moved to the front seat.
