READING UP

A good way for global managers to begin gaining a deeper understanding of a culture's value priorities is by reading books about the region in which the culture lies. The subject matter can be whatever most interests you—geography, religion, history, biography, politics, philosophy, or sociology—and the genre can be nonfiction, fiction, or even poetry. All of these can provide insights into how people in a particular region or country came to think, believe, and act as they do.
