What is the difference between a management fad and a useful, sustainable movement? Why do fads catch on in the first place, and where does connected leadership fit into the mix? Using the term fad makes an initiative seem like something that should be ignored. This is not necessarily the case, because fads can produce change inside organizations. (Whether the change lasts is another story.) Fads can be the catalysts for organizations to examine their current approaches to their work. I believe that in some cases, fads can make leaders better by provoking them to reflect on their own styles and approaches.
