As I look back I am certainly proud of what my father accomplished in his career, and in some ways I feel like a lightweight by comparison, especially when I consider our relative starting points. If this were a Hollywood story, it would end neatly with Fred's retirement and the pursuit of his two life dreams, which he had put off while serving the bank and its customers. One dream, repressed since his missed opportunity in North Africa, was to see the world with Margaret. The other dream was to spend time with his family, pestering his grandchildren to throw a baseball exactly the right way. But just as on Behind the Music, the story doesn't end neatly.
