EVALUATION LESSONS

This case provides many examples of the ways that an evaluation can be set up and implemented to provide evidence on the extent to which a leadership development initiative achieves individual and organizational impact. Most notably, it shows the advantage of clearly understanding the needs that the initiative addresses, being specific about the people who are targets for development, using multiple implementation methods to yield a broad perspective, looking for outcomes at different levels (individual, team, and organizational), and using the results not only to improve the initiative but also to contribute to organizational learning in general.
