FRAMING GENERATIONS

The final pages of my scrapbook are filled with anecdotes, photographs, and memories of my trips to Moldova, a small country nestled between Romania and Ukraine, where I learned to be a leader through obligation, responsibility, and independence beyond the scope of my daily routine in the United States. I was the leader of arts and crafts at a camp for needy Jewish families. For a campwide activity, I facilitated a project called Framing the Generations, in which each family was responsible for creating a framework that depicted who they were as a family, as Jews, and as people in the former Soviet Union.
