Leadership in Action: In Focus - Developing Young Leaders - Program Helps Teens Tap Leadership Capacity

FACING CHALLENGES

Each year the program accepts fifty-four rising juniors or seniors from high schools in the Piedmont area. This group is divided into six smaller groups, each of which is managed by a leadership adviser, a former RYLP participant who has gone on to college. As part of many of the classroom and experiential sessions, members of each small group work together to process information and work on projects. One of these group sessions has proved to be immediately useful for the participants in addressing the leadership challenges they face at home, in school, and in the community.
