REDEFINING SUCCESS

What has become paramount for me in my work as a mental training coach is the need to get parents to redefine sports success.

If we truly believe that success is not always measured in the win column, how do we evaluate the accomplishments of a team that loses more games than it wins? Recently I learned about an individual who had the opportunity to coach a team of ninth-grade boys in a competitive basketball league. The team ended with a record of 6–16, yet despite this I believe the team had a very successful season. Here are my reasons:
