Integrating Results, Result Assessment, and Rewards

To maximize department (unit) performance (achieving or exceeding target results), the department chair must assign faculty and staff to activities based on their particular individual strengths, rather than expecting each faculty member to engage in the same activities (teaching, research, and service). It is the responsibility of the chair to protect faculty during the P&T process and to reward faculty performance through merit raises and/or other appropriate non-salary compensation.
