Building Cinderella’s Castle

It’s said that when Walt Disney started to develop Disney World, it was being built in a remote, desolate, hot, humid, and insect-laden area. The first structure that was built was Cinderella’s castle. During the week, workers toiled in terrible conditions, and many a determined worker was tempted to find other work. However, Disney often had weekend picnics for employees and their families that were held at a picnic ground from which Cinderella’s castle could be clearly seen. The sight of this beautiful castle in the middle of nowhere gave the workers and their families a clear vision of what they were working toward and provided the motivation that sustained their efforts.
